Who We Are and What We Do
Supporting Our Community
Endless Harvest is a home-based business located
just outside of Nelson,
BC. It was started to fill a need in Nelson to provide
people with an easy, affordable way to eat organic and locally
grown food, to help people make informed decisions about food,
and to help local farmers reach new markets.
Endless Harvest is dedicated to providing
fresh, flavourful food directly to our customers' homes. We
foster sustainability by supporting organic agriculture and
buying locally produced products. We support our customers'
healthy eating habits by providing a convenient, affordable
service, a weekly newsletter full of vital food news and recipes,
and we welcome feedback and ideas. We work together to create
a financially viable business in a joyful, open environment
which is in harmony with our collective desire for well being.

Velvet, the Organic Goddess,
started Endless Harvest in July 1998. She does a little
bit of everything and a lot of other things. Velvet
moved to Nelson in 1998 wanting to create her own health-related
business in one of the most beautiful places in BC.
Velvet's background is in the health food industry,
having spent over eight years at various health food
stores and related businesses. When she's not glued
to the computer, you'll find her shovelling the compost,
talking about food, scooping up powder in the trees
at Whitewater
Ski Hill, or out in the woods with her dog Dazey.

Odie, the Duke of Deliveries,
started working with Endless Harvest in October 1999.
'Odie works in the office, packs, boxes, and delivers
the Nelson Fairview and North Shore routes. He keeps
us working with his wide selection of music. After spending
many years ski racing and teaching, he came to Nelson
from the East in search of more snow. Odie can often
be heard giggling in the woods at Whitewater
Ski Hill, shaking the powder out of his hair, or
serving up tasty food at his partner Jeannie's restaurant,
the Wild Nectar Café.

Deb, the Produce Pixie,
started working with us in April 2001. Deb writes the
newsletter with Velvet, packs boxes and works in the
office. Deb is an excellent baker and makes many of
the goodies at the Wild Nectar Café, owned
by her partner Jamie. She moved up from Saltspring Island
looking for a bit less rain. When she's not helping
people eat healthy food, she can be found wildcrafting,
gardening, and spending time with her son Akailah.

Jason, the Prince of Produce,
started working with us in June 2001. Jason delivers
the Uphill boxes. He also packs boxes and is in the
office on Mondays. Jason keeps us entertained with his
political rants, wry sense of humour, and his singing.
Jason has spent many months working on organic farms
and has worked with organic produce in retail store.
He also studies herbs, particularly Chinese medicine,
and is often out in the bush, enjoying the Kootenay
lifestyle with his partner Kelly and and her daughter
Tenai.

Christian, also known as
Count Vegula, started working with us in October 2001.
He packs boxes, delivers the Rossland and Castlegar
routes, and uses his fine German background to build
us stuff and keep us practical. Chris came to us through
the Twisted
Spoon Youth Café job placement program. Chris
and his wife Sharon passed through Nelson on their way
back home from Mexico, loved it, and moved here in 2000.
Chris became a resident of Canada in July 2002. Chris
and Sharon like to travel, canoe, and explore the Kootenays,
and he enjoys a good brew on a hot summer day.

Dazey and Johnny are our
bear and mice aware program co-ordinators. Dazey loves
to hang outside the packing room, waiting for an extra
piece of broccoli- her favourite treat! She keeps the
bears away from our compost. When she's not working,
she loves to lie around the house or run in the woods.
Johnny loves to hang out in the office, sleep on the
desk, and walk on the computer keyboard. When he's not
visiting us, he loves to catch mice and sleep.

We regularly donate food to local aid
groups and community events in our area. Every year in December,
we offer our customers the opportunity to donate organic produce
at wholesale prices to aid groups of their choice. We match
the dollar value of our customers' donations. We use a propane-powered
delivery van to keep emissions down. We focus on providing
minimally packaged, locally-grown and produced food to keep
our money in our community. Everyone who works with us is
offered a good working environment, all food purchases at
wholesale prices, and health benefits.
